Call for dancers

Artist Ben Cain (ben-cain.blogspot.com) is looking for four dancers (2 male, 2 female) to take part in a photo-shoot at WIELS in Brussels during late October / early November. The product of the shoot will be a series of still images that will be presented at branches of EXKi throughout Europe.

The dancers will choreograph each other in order to create forms that resemble all the letters of the alphabet as well as twenty-six ‘new letters’ which will also be improvised on the day of the shoot. We will also use purpose made ‘props’ which will assist in the forming of the letters. The body-letters should also be understood as sculptures which verge on the monumental while simultaneously being more indebted to the temporality of performance than to objects and the concrete.

The nature of the performance might necessitate elements of acrobatics, gymnastics and a degree of contortion! (see image). Participants will need to wear tight-fitting black clothes, preferably a leotard covering arms and legs.

The session will last half a day (circa 4hrs), for which there is a fee of €100.
